Blitz Automation was honoured to be invited to the Advanced Manufacturing & Additive Centre (TAMAC) at Taylor’s College for an industry engagement session focused on next-generation manufacturing technologies.
During the visit, Taylor’s showcased their latest investment in advanced manufacturing capabilities, including a newly acquired CNC machining centre and a Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) metal additive manufacturing system. These new additions reflect Taylor’s commitment to equipping students with hands-on exposure to real industrial technologies.
Advancing CNC Capabilities
The CNC machining centre demonstrated high-precision subtractive manufacturing processes, offering students practical exposure to advanced programming, toolpath strategies, and machining optimisation. The session provided deeper insights into:
-
Machine architecture and control systems
-
Tooling selection and cutting strategies
-
Precision engineering and surface finish optimisation
-
Integration of CAD/CAM workflows into machining operations
The experience reinforced how modern CNC systems remain critical for high-accuracy, production-grade components across industries.
Exploring Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) Technology
Equally exciting was the introduction of the Powder Bed Fusion system a cutting-edge metal additive manufacturing process that builds complex geometries layer by layer using high-energy laser fusion.
The session provided valuable insights into:
-
Powder handling and material considerations
-
Laser fusion mechanics and process parameters
-
Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) principles
-
Post-processing and finishing requirements
The ability to produce intricate, lightweight structures that would be impossible using conventional machining represents a major shift in manufacturing design philosophy.
Strengthening Industry–Academia Collaboration
Beyond the technical demonstrations, the visit enabled meaningful engagement with professionals from various industries. The open dialogue created opportunities to exchange ideas, discuss real-world applications, and explore collaborative pathways.
Blitz Automation strongly believes that bridging industry and academia is essential for accelerating innovation and preparing future-ready talent. We are actively looking to collaborate with colleges, universities, and technical institutions on:
-
Industry-driven student projects
-
Applied research initiatives
-
Technology validation programs
-
Knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops
We look forward to building strategic partnerships that advance advanced manufacturing adoption in Malaysia and the broader ASEAN region.
